Your money protected at every step

PayMeDaba is designed so that nothing leaves your balance without your say-so. Here is how, ahead of the launch planned after obtaining Bank Al-Maghrib approval.

A 6-digit PIN for every operation

When you sign up you create a 6-digit secret code. It is required for every transfer, every request you pay and every withdrawal. Codes that are too simple, like 123456 or 111111, are refused. After 5 wrong attempts the PIN is locked for 15 minutes, which makes guessing it pointless.

Your PIN is personal: never share it, not even with family. For any question about your code, see the PIN help article.

Face ID, fingerprint and auto-lock

You can turn on Face ID or fingerprint unlock to open the app faster. When the app spends more than a minute in the background, it locks again. Lend your phone for a call and nobody stumbles on your open balance.

Card top-ups: 3-D Secure, nothing stored

Card top-ups go through the bank's 3-D Secure payment page, where your own bank checks it is you, often with a code sent by SMS. PayMeDaba never sees or stores your card number.

Your personal details stay private

When someone looks you up or is about to pay you, they only see your first name, the initial of your last name and your @username. Never your phone number, never your email. All connections between the app and our servers are encrypted (TLS).

Every movement of money is recorded in an accounting ledger that is reconciled with balances, so every dirham has a traceable origin and destination.

Identity verification

To raise your limits and unlock withdrawals to your bank account, you verify your identity in the app: photos of the front and back of your national ID card (CNIE), then a selfie. The compliance team reviews it, usually within 24 hours, and notifies you. That way money can only leave to a bank account in the name of an identified person.

Good habits against scams

  • PayMeDaba will never ask for your PIN or password, by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email. Anyone who does is a scammer.
  • Check the name before you confirm: a sent transfer cannot be cancelled.
  • Be wary of urgency: a "relative" asking for money right now from a new number deserves a call to check.
  • Read your notifications: you are told in real time about money received, requests and withdrawals.

Not sure? Write to support@paymedaba.com before you send money.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I lose my phone?

Without your PIN nobody can send money, pay a request or withdraw. The app locks after a minute in the background, and the PIN is locked for 15 minutes after 5 wrong attempts. Write to support@paymedaba.com quickly from your account's email address to report the loss.

Someone called "from PayMeDaba" asking for my PIN. What should I do?

Hang up. PayMeDaba never asks for your PIN or password, on any channel. Share nothing, and report the attempt to support@paymedaba.com.

Can people who pay me see my phone number?

No. They see your first name, last-name initial and @username. Your phone number and email are never shown to other users.

Does PayMeDaba keep my bank card?

No. You enter your card on the bank's 3-D Secure page for each top-up. PayMeDaba does not see your card number and does not store it.

Can I get back a transfer sent to the wrong person?

A sent transfer cannot be cancelled. Contact the person and ask them to send it back, or send them a payment request. That is why the app shows the recipient's name before you enter your PIN.
