No more awkward reminders
You covered ftour for the whole group, paid the flatshare's internet bill or bought the cinema tickets. Asking for the money afterwards is never fun: you hesitate, you forget, you don't want to chase. A payment request handles it politely. The amount is written down, so is the reason, and your friend only has to confirm.
It keeps friendships easy, without turning every dinner into bookkeeping. It is especially handy for splitting a restaurant bill or for flatshare expenses.
How to send a payment request
- Pick the person by @username or mobile number.
- Enter the amount in MAD.
- Add a message if you like, such as "My share of this week's groceries".
- Send the request: they get a notification right away.
They see the amount, the reason and who you are. They can pay by confirming with their PIN, or decline. As soon as they pay, the money lands in your balance instantly.
Splitting a cost: one request per person
For a dinner for four, whoever paid sends a request to each of the other three, one after another. Each friend pays their own request in their own time. Example: a 600 MAD restaurant bill split four ways means three requests of 150 MAD.
PayMeDaba does not create shared accounts or group balances. Everyone keeps their own balance, and each request is a simple payment between two people. It is clearer for everyone.
Track and manage your requests
- Pending requests: they appear on the app's home screen, so you know who has not paid yet.
- Cancelling: you can cancel a request while it is pending, for instance if your friend paid you back in cash.
- Notifications: you are told in real time when a request is paid.
Who pays the fee on a request?
Paying a request is the same as sending money, so the person paying covers the 0.1% fee, rounded up to the next centime. For a 150 MAD request they pay a 0.15 MAD fee and you receive exactly 150 MAD. Sending a request costs nothing, and neither does receiving the payment. Details are on the pricing page.
Your friend can also simply send you the money directly without waiting for a request.
