Why top up your balance?
To send money or pay a request, you need a PayMeDaba balance. You can fill it in two ways: by receiving money from other users, or by topping up with your bank card. Topping up is handy before a weekend away with friends, at the start of the month for your share of the flatshare rent, or simply so you have enough to send money when you need to.
Accepted cards
- Bank cards issued by Moroccan banks.
- International Visa and Mastercard cards.
Payment is in dirhams. The minimum top-up is 10 MAD.
How to top up, step by step
- In the app, choose "Top up" and enter the amount in MAD.
- You are taken to the bank's secure 3-D Secure payment page.
- Enter your card details, then complete the check your bank asks for, often a code sent by SMS.
- Once the bank confirms the payment, your balance is credited and the top-up appears in your activity.
Your card details stay with the bank
You type your card details on the bank's secure page, not inside PayMeDaba. PayMeDaba never sees or stores your card number. 3-D Secure adds a check by your own bank, which makes fraudulent use of a card much harder. Other protections, such as the PIN and the app lock, are covered on the security page.
What does a top-up cost?
Nothing: PayMeDaba charges no fee for card top-ups. Top up 300 MAD and your balance goes up by 300 MAD. PayMeDaba's only fee is on transfers between users (0.1%, paid by the sender). The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
Top-ups and balance limits
The planned maximum balance depends on how far your account is verified: 2,000 MAD at level 0 (email and phone), 20,000 MAD at level 1 (national ID card verified) and 200,000 MAD at level 2 (enhanced verification). These limits are planned and may change to meet regulatory requirements. Keep your limit in mind before topping up. And if you want your money back later, you can withdraw it to your bank account.
