Fees in plain sight, with worked examples

PayMeDaba will have a single fee: 0.1% on transfers between users, paid by the sender. Here is the detail, with examples in dirhams, ahead of the launch planned after obtaining Bank Al-Maghrib approval.

How the 0.1% fee is worked out

The fee is 0.1% of the amount sent, so 1 MAD per 1,000 MAD. It is rounded up to the next centime: a result of 0.015 MAD becomes 0.02 MAD. The sender always pays it. Your friend receives exactly the amount you typed, and your balance is debited the amount plus the fee.

Before every money transfer, the app shows the amount, the fee and the total debited. You then confirm with your PIN, knowing exactly what you pay.

On 15 MAD, 0.1% is 0.015 MAD, rounded up to 0.02 MAD. Transfers of 2,000 and 10,000 MAD are above the planned per-transfer limit of a level 0 account, so they need an account with verified identity.

Top-ups, withdrawals and your account: no fee

Topping up by bank card costs nothing: top up 300 MAD and you get 300 MAD of balance. Withdrawing to your bank account has no fee either, from 50 MAD, processed within 24 to 48 business hours (see withdraw to bank). Opening and keeping an account and receiving money are not charged, and there is no subscription.

Planned limits by verification level

These limits are planned and may change to meet regulatory requirements. Your current limits and today's usage will be shown in the Profile tab of the app.

Frequently asked questions

Do transfers cost anything?

Yes, a little. Each transfer between users costs 0.1% of the amount, paid by the sender: 0.10 MAD on 100 MAD. Receiving money, topping up by card, withdrawing to a RIB and opening an account cost nothing.

Who pays the fee, the sender or the recipient?

Always the sender. The recipient gets the exact amount the sender typed. When you pay a payment request, you are the sender, so you cover the 0.1%.

How does rounding work on small amounts?

Fees are rounded up to the next centime. On 1 MAD, 0.1% is 0.001 MAD, rounded to 0.01 MAD. On 15 MAD, 0.015 MAD becomes 0.02 MAD. Rounding never adds more than one centime to the exact figure.

Is there a subscription or monthly fee?

No. PayMeDaba plans no subscription, no account-keeping fee and no monthly charge. You only pay 0.1% on the transfers you send.

Can my bank charge me anything?

PayMeDaba charges nothing for card top-ups or withdrawals to your RIB. Terms specific to your card or bank account are set by your bank, so check with them if in doubt.

Could these prices change before launch?

These are the prices planned for launch, which will follow Bank Al-Maghrib approval. The limits may change to meet regulatory requirements. To stay informed, join the waitlist.
