What you will need
- Be 18 or older and live in Morocco.
- An email address you check.
- A Moroccan mobile number starting with 06 or 07.
- For the identity check: a valid national ID card (CNIE).
The app will be available on iPhone and Android at launch, planned after Bank Al-Maghrib approval.
Sign-up steps
- Your email. Enter your address and you get a 6-digit code. Type it in the app to confirm the address is yours.
- Your @username. Your public name on PayMeDaba, like @salma.b or @youssef_88. 3 to 20 characters: letters, digits, dot and underscore. Friends use it to send you money.
- Your mobile number. A Moroccan number starting with 06 or 07. Contacts can find you with it, but it is never shown to other users.
- Your PIN. Pick a 6-digit secret code and confirm it. Codes that are too simple, like 123456 or 111111, are refused.
Verify your identity
Once signed up, you can send and receive money within the level 0 limits. To withdraw to your bank and raise your limits, verify your identity from the Profile tab:
- Take a photo of the front of your CNIE.
- Take a photo of the back.
- Take a selfie in the app.
The compliance team reviews it, usually within 24 hours, and you get a notification when it is done.
Common problems
- The email code does not arrive: check the spelling of your address and your spam folder.
- The username is refused: it is taken or has a character that is not allowed (space, hyphen, accent). Try another.
- ID photo refused: put the card on a plain surface in good light, with no glare and all four corners visible.
