Send your wedding gift to the couple, simply

In Morocco, giving money to newlyweds, the ghrama, is a sign of love and support. With PayMeDaba you will be able to send it in seconds with a personal note, whether you are at the party or across the country.

How to send a wedding gift with PayMeDaba

A contribution to the wedding, or a cash gift for the couple, is traditionally handed over in person, sometimes in an envelope. But sometimes you cannot make the trip: a wedding in Oujda when you work in Agadir, a date that clashes with an exam, a last-minute problem.

With PayMeDaba you send your gift straight to the bride or groom, or to a relative handling things, using their @username, mobile number or QR code. Add a congratulations note (up to 140 characters), confirm with your PIN, and the money arrives instantly.

The amount stays strictly personal: only the recipient sees what you sent. There is no shared list and no tally visible to other guests.

Send your gift in 4 steps

  1. Ask who to send it to. The groom, the bride, or the family member organising. Get their @username or number.
  2. Tap "Send" and pick the recipient. Check the first name, last initial and @username shown.
  3. Enter the amount and your message. "Mabrouk! Wishing you every happiness": a few words keep the gesture warm.
  4. Confirm with your PIN. The fee shows before you confirm. The recipient gets a notification with your message.

Example: a gift sent from afar

Leïla lives in Agadir. Her cousin Hajar is getting married in Fès on a Thursday, and Leïla cannot leave work. She decides to give 500 MAD and sends it on the morning of the wedding.

ItemAmount
Gift sent by Leïla500 MAD
Fee paid by Leïla (0.1%)0.50 MAD
Total debited from Leïla500.50 MAD
Amount Hajar receives500 MAD

Hajar receives the full amount with no fee, along with her cousin's message. The 500 MAD is just an example: everyone gives according to their means and their bond with the couple, and no amount is "expected". For 200 MAD the fee would be 0.20 MAD; for 1,000 MAD, 1.00 MAD. See pricing.

Tips for a graceful gesture

  • Ask before sending. Some families prefer gifts in person: a quick message to ask how the couple would like to receive is always appreciated.
  • Take care with the message. It replaces the card in the envelope. Sincere wishes count as much as the amount.
  • Send at the right time. On the day or just before, so the gesture goes with the celebration.
  • Do not compare. PayMeDaba never shows anyone else what you gave. Give what feels right.
  • Check the recipient. A sent transfer cannot be undone: read the name shown before confirming.

Why PayMeDaba for weddings

  • Discreet: only you and the recipient see the amount.
  • From afar: be there in spirit even when you cannot travel.
  • Personal: every transfer can carry a congratulations note.
  • Handy for the couple: they can withdraw what they receive to their bank account free of charge after verifying their ID.

Couples expecting several gifts should verify their national ID card in the app: without verification, the balance is capped at 2,000 MAD under the planned limits, which may change. Read more about security. PayMeDaba will be available once Bank Al-Maghrib grants its approval: join the waitlist.

Frequently asked questions

Is it OK to send a wedding gift through an app?

It depends on each family. Many appreciate receiving the gesture from afar when a guest cannot come. If in doubt, ask the couple or their relatives how they would like to receive it, and add a personal message.

How much does sending a wedding gift cost?

The fee is 0.1% of the amount, paid by the sender and rounded up to the next centime: 0.50 MAD on 500 MAD, 1.00 MAD on 1,000 MAD. The couple receives the full amount and pays nothing.

Can other guests see how much I gave?

No. Each transfer is visible only to the sender and the recipient, in their own activity. There is no shared list or total shown to others.

Can the couple move the money to their bank account?

Yes. After verifying their identity in the app (national ID card and selfie), they can withdraw their balance to a Moroccan bank account using its RIB, from 50 MAD, free of charge, within 24 to 48 business hours.

I live abroad. Can I send my gift?

No. PayMeDaba is for people living in Morocco and does not offer international transfers. Both the sender and the couple need a PayMeDaba account opened in Morocco.
